The Headshots – Sarah – Orange County Headshots and Portrait Photographer

It’s pretty tough to make me feel nervous behind the camera. It is, in fact, one of the places I feel the most comfortable. I’m most secure in myself where I’m doing what I know best, which is typically in one of three places: looking through a viewfinder, proofing printed materials and timelines for the day job, and with a pencil and sketchbook in hand. The exception to this rule, however, is when a family member asks me to take photos for them. Particularly  - my mother.

Why?

Because I know I’ll get a completely honest response. I might get distracted during the shoot talking about some sort of family drama, might be afraid of not being on my A-game, and my mom is one person that will definitely call me out on it. She always wants to push me to be better, so even if I do think I’ve done a great job, she’s one person I’d never want to hear from any sort of disappointment in her photographs. Because, really, how do you make that up to your mom?

So, when my Mom wrote me a thank-you email saying how thrilled she was with her photographs and that I truly treated her like a professional, saying how impressed she was, I felt like I could wipe the bead of imaginary sweat off my forehead.

Enjoy the photos of my beautiful, amazing, radiant Mom… she makes it easy to photograph her. I’ll just take the credit. Love you, Mom!
